Managing Waste Stream

April 30th, 2008 -- Posted in Environment | No Comments »

When the collection of events that have as their party, wedding, jamboree, or any celebration, we can do some things to manage the waste stream. We are able to compost, recycle, reuse existing resources and materials, objects and print materials on environment:

Composting. We can arrange to get all the food waste, along with everything else that is biodegradable (paper, cardboard, etc.) that must be separated at source and composting (from professional staff and, at its creative manipulation). We can divert some parts of all discards away from landfills and compost in many ways.

Recycling. Another step may include the provision of main meals, with separate bins for composting, recycling and trash. Professionals can be trained to do with their hands discards participants.

Reuse existing resources and Materials. Glasses disposable may be replaced with reusable mugs and bio-plastic/tree free compostables. Cutlery disposable has been replaced with reusable silverware. Virgin napkins were replaced with cloth napkins and recycled paper napkins. Washable glass, plateware and cups of coffee were used when and where possible.

The press. Use soft copy (if possible) rather than printed materials to communicate with participants and guests. When objects are printed, you can choose to print on tree-free or recycled papers and plant-based, non-toxic inks. That includes badges and brochures, letterhead and envelopes.

If your event in possession of a specific event organizer, you can ask them to do the same thing. We can really organize our big event as an environment-friendly. And the choice would be too attractive for all

The 3 R’s : Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

April 30th, 2008 -- Posted in Environment | No Comments »

Let’s Talk about simple facts about waste. Not all waste rots. A lemon peel and a plastic bag, example. After a few days away it threw both for your garden, you will find that the lemon peel has decomposed, in my experience too;). But the plastic bag remain as it is, even to check that after several years (remember ‘plastic toys excavation’ game in our childhood?) Plastic bags do not rot and remain in a landfill for years to come. It is not good for the earth and that harm the environment, it is not.

Each of us can cope with this problem of waste, helping the earth (and ourselves) that its sad state, to practice three simple things: reduce, reuse and recycle. So simple, I think that we are able to practice directly in our daily lives, without any confusion theoretical discussions (but addictive): In our office, our cuisine, our outdoor activities, etc.

Reduce: we can live simple, reducing or reduce the amount of waste. Pensarci twice when using something: this is to produce more waste? We try to do better, avoiding waste, choice, or reduce using something that has in fact large quantities of waste. If we can take something easily with our hand without fingers some plastic bags as half, then we can only hold with your fingers. That’s cool. You and I are really doing a better environment through this a few steps.

Reuse: Goodies to reuse things and old things. If you have some plastic bags at home, try to reuse (until they’re torn into pieces and you can not use them more) instead throw away and using the new ones. Reusing things is a great way to maintain this environment stay longer for us to live. We need more land to live if we always throw away things easily.

Recycling: It means that we are trying to make garbage into something new / useful. If we want to meditate for a moment, aha! many things that we can reuse. Use bottles, plastic containers old (we can repair / repair), antique iron chairs, plastic bags, etc. This is a great thing when we have something to recycle at the same time we are trying to maximize our creativity too (I are not only thinking of artists). We are all not only users, we are able to modify and create new / useful things from many things around us. Let’s have fun.

Save Water with a Rain Garden

April 30th, 2008 -- Posted in Environment | No Comments »

The indigenous soil and forests in many regions shop, sieve, and gradually release fresh, clean water to streams, wetlands and estuaries. A rich variety of life at sea and freshwater, as well as on land, requires clean water to flourish.

As human populations intrusion and change the natural settings, from forests and land are replaced with roads, roofs and other hard surfaces. When it rains or snows, more water flows from these areas unaffected areas, carrying petroleum, fertilizers, pesticides, sediment and other pollutants downstream. In fact, most of the flows of pollution in, wetlands and rivers comes from storm water (water that flows by developed). Added the volume of water and contaminants associated developed from the ground are damaging the water and harms aquatic life.

One possible solution is a type of landscape called the rain garden –

What is a rain garden?

A rain garden functions as a native forest harvesting, absorption, and filtering storm-water runoff from man made structures that do not allow water to soak in. Rain gardens are designed as low depressions that:

It can be formed and sizes to fit your landscape.

They are built with mixtures of soil that allow water to infuse in a rapid and healthy support the growth of plants.

They can be filled with a variety of plants to fit the surroundings.

Rain gardens are one of the most versatile and effective tools in a new approach to water management storm called low-impact development (LID). LID project may include a variety of tools to enjoy rainwater, reduce storm water runoff and filter pollutants. Some examples of these include permeable pavement, made-amended soil, vegetation roofs, systems for collecting rainwater and rain gardens.

Rain gardens provide multiple benefits, including:

Filter oil and grease from driveways, pesticides and fertilizers from lawns, and other pollutants before they reach the storm drain and, finally, streams, wetlands, lakes and marine waters.

Reduce flooding close to property, overflow in sewers, and erosion in streams to absorb water from impermeable surfaces.

To provide habitat for beneficial insects and birds.

Increase the amount of water that absorbs into the ground to recharge local groundwater.

Rain gardens are low maintenance, but not any maintenance. We worked hard to create your garden rain, and to keep it works well for you and look better, some regular care is required.

Unless it rains, the water until your plants are established. Once the deep root system has grown in the soil, will probably survive a drought. But until then, like any new plant perennials, they need water to get started.

Techniques for watering the rain gardens include:

Soaker hoses: Soaker hoses save water and can be covered with mulch to save even more.

Sprinklers: Place cans of tuna in a few locations around the rain garden and stop watering when there is 1 inch of water in cans.

Mulch your rain garden. Check the level of litter each year, 2-3 inches of shredded hardwood mulch should be applied in the spring, or if there are bare areas, more often. Mulch keeps the garden moist and spongelike, ready to absorb the rain. Mulch areas along the sides and bottom of the rain garden. This prevents a hardpan developing on the surface of the garden. Mulch protects plants in the garden as provided they receive, and makes it easier to remove.

Weed regularly. A well prepared rain garden is an ideal place for invasive plants to start growing. Here is where mulch comes in handy; will be easy to extract these small plants before they receive. Dig or pull weeds by the roots before going to seed.

Break strong flow of water. The area where water flows in your garden may, during the strong storms, eroding soil, mulch, and plants. A few strategically placed rocks, boulders or stone dams in this area of strong flow of water can break the strength and prevent this from happening.

Do not let sediment, soil, sand or debris flow in your garden rain. You can bury the plant, destroy the absorption capacity, and ruin all your efforts.

I remember, rain gardens can be an integral part of our storm-water management and environmental issues. Their use does not involve a lot of central planning. They do not require much space, can be fitted into oddball shapes, and can easily added to existing buildings. Nice looking, and not have to be an engineer to build one. Anyone can make a rain garden – including you!

Go Green: Improve Your Environment and Your Diet!

April 29th, 2008 -- Posted in Environment | No Comments »

Follow these 25 simple tips to help you make a big impact on the environment and your diet!

* Plan ahead. To go green you must shop carefully. Do not get caught or hunger is displayed for the “easy” instead of meal healthy meal. Check out your weekly grocery ads and make your shopping list and the menu at the same time

* Get a supply of easy to find reusable tote bags and keep them in cars to stimulate the time to stop at the grocery store or produce stand.

* Be aware of packaging. Notice of plastic and cardboard that is used with your favorite products. Wal-Mart is one of the first chains to begin replacing them with packages of corn-based packaging for fruits, herbs, berries and vegetables.

* Plan vegetarian meals for your family every two days a week. As used to obtain the idea and see how delicious meals can be, add more vegetarian days. Commercial meat industry plays a big part in our environmental problems. This sector requires a lot of energy and can be a factor of climate change due to greenhouse gas emissions. In addition to greater demand for meat, take into consideration the increased cost of shipping, production, and the feeding of livestock. One study showed that takes 4.8 pounds of grain to produce one pound of beef. Consider whether that grain must be used to feed people who suffer from hunger rather than starving cattle.

* Vegetable proteins, tends to be cheaper than meat protein. Use the beans to enhance your meals. There are many healthy recipes available.

* Drinking tap water. Purchase of a reusable neoprene bottle and fill it up at home. Americans throw away 70 million plastic bottles of water every day! A very small percentage is actually recycled. In most cases, bottled water is no longer pure compared to tap water. If you do not like the taste of tap water, the purchase of a Brita filter for example, or use fresh lemon or lime. Imagine shipping costs for something as heavy water. Turn the tap!

* Eliminate or limit soda, even diet. You can save on aluminium and get healthy in the process.

* If you must choose disposable dinnerware, use the type that is made from corn, potatoes and limestone. Costa about five cents a plate. It can be found at www.earthshell.com and not kill our trees or load our landfills.

* Did you know that coffee manufacturing can destroy rainforests and be toxic to the workers? Vai organic and Fair Trade! With a staff of as Yuban coffee, you can be sure that the industrial chemicals were not used. Yuban Rainforest Alliance is certified. Green Mountain roasters is a fair trade, which means that incentives are provided to farmers for the protection of forests.

* Pack lunch at home and bring it to work with you. Buy a reusable lunch bag or box to save plastic and paper. Take silverware from home and replace it every night. You can save money and calories, plus an environmental impact. Research shows that 1.8 million tons of takeout containers and utensils end up in landfills.

* Avoid fast food. Helping landfills and your waistline at the same time!

* Pack leftovers in reusable containers instead of plastic wrap or plastic baggies.

* Save and use old rags to mop up spills in the kitchen instead of using paper towels.

* Do not forget those non-toxic for cleaning the kitchen while you are in it.

* Use cloth napkins instead of paper. They are easy to throw with your load of laundry and should not be resolved unless company is coming!

* Instead of packaging buy lettuce for your salad, buy a head of lettuce and make your own. You’ll be surprised how much more fresh and tastes!

* Instead of buying yogurt in small containers of packaging, buying an entire container and separated from you in service dimensions. See how many other products that you can do with this.

* Do not buy those new, convenient, prepackaged snacks. Saving money and the environment by buying a large bag and the separation in reusable containers for the lunchbox or car.

* Try your skill farming. If you’ve never grown before, start small. Growing for the pesto of basil or mint for mojitos. If you do not have a big yard, plants in pots on your patio or deck. Pomodorini can easily be grown in a pot and enjoyed all summer!

* If you have room and want to expand your ability to gardening, start a compost pile and recycle in their yard!

* Look for other ways to Vai green in your kitchen. Wash dishes by hand every other day. To be performed only when the dishwasher is full. When it’s time to replace your appliances, choose Energy Star products.

“Green” may grow on you – easy ways to “go green” without making everyone around you go crazy

April 29th, 2008 -- Posted in Environment | No Comments »

Yes – we can say – now that everyone has got on the same page and began to think of our land – the precious gift that has been given to us. Yes – we can say that it is time that large enterprises, especially the media, politicians and, above all Republicans are thinking about land without having once again “looting and profiting” coming into their minds.

Yes – we can say – now. But we must also say … Time for what? How much can really “go green” without sound like snobs environment? How can “Go Green” in a way that is easy to maintain – so do not seem hypocritical of fire when we are not able to argue that “Vai Green Fever” We started?

Well there are a few simple things – and really – are simple and sustainable and will do something really good:

* Walk, do not run – or particularly Drive: I think of how many times I could have walked the streets for the pharmacy, Trader ‘Joes – or even my favorite Farmer’s Market spot and how many less coal helped me emitting – simply because I did not put the pedal to the medal “, but my place” walk the floor “- and only just walked.

* Sip from their Cisterna: Making your own drinking water – by using one of those very fresh low-cost filtration system not only saves money, but to save the earth from an ever more degradable plastic piece of waste.

* Can you hear me now? — Do not Listen! And close your eyes when you see those Cell Phone Cool Spot: Even if your phone is not the most cool the planet – it will help the planet stay cooler not to add more toxic waste to its already overburdened eco-system . Sincerely – did you know that every time you launch your old phone or other electronic gadgets to get the latest model, your old phone, as well as heaps of others were illegally shipped overseas to be dismantled by workers with very little protective wear – which may not seem so bad – but those electronic gadgets on the skin can be outside – but carry a lot of toxic and hazardous chemicals such as mercury inside.

* Vai Whole Foods for a day: Just to have a beautiful fruit and salad days – which helps keep thin and also helps the environment. Sincerely – did you know that meat production plants are in need of great energy and also produce waste that is toxic?

I could go on – but these are just some things you can do – all the time – and green – but more importantly STAY GREEN!

For more tips on how to “Go green” check our local library. And so that leads us to yet another way to go green! Books instead of borrowing to buy them save the trees and consumes less fossil fuel to provide them to you.

See – you can do it! So next time you see one of those corny but true spot on the environment – to know that you can change things – a little ‘at a time and also provide a good model for your neighbors. As you know, that goes – Keep pace with the Jones’ – could launch a Enviromendemic (Do not worry search it up – I know it is not a word – but bear with me I am here in a roll!) Pretty soon the whole district will be green. Ok, I am calm now, there is no need for restrictions. But I think I have made my point – we can all be done without environmental conscience ourselves or even more important that surrounds us – go Nuts.

Office Plants – The Ultimate Office Fighting Machines

April 29th, 2008 -- Posted in Environment | No Comments »

You might not know it, but there is battle under way in buildings for offices worldwide. On the one hand is the toxic gases produced by modern office equipment and other, a group of heroes surprising; regular office plants. Research has shown that modern energy-efficient office buildings are actually home to a number of potentially harmful toxic gases that are more commonly known on the streets as volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This banda contains characters such as formaldehyde, benzene and trichloroethylene that attack office workers causing sore throat, headache and irritable eyes and skin conditions.

In early 1980 the National Aeronautics Space Administration (NASA) has discovered a potential solution to stop these volatile gases. Mobilising the help of Dr. Bill Wolverton, an environmental engineer, NASA has discovered that plants were covered capable of challenging the VOC and purify the air that makes it much safer for employees in office buildings. Dr. Wolverton common showed that both plants could purify and clean the polluted air and water and has led a number of other properties beneficial in our indoor spaces.

The modern energy-efficient buildings that are now living and working in VOC have provided perfect with the territory in which to reign. With much of our time spent being home, many of us in offices without windows, the distinct lack of fresh air has also led to other physical and psychological disorders that have been improved further toxic VOCs. Our productivity, creativity and general mood is depressed conditions in these ultra-efficient, where the only thing that is ultra efficient are the machinery and equipment that support VOCs.

Wolverton identified that some plants like bamboo office Palm and Madonna lily, fought for cleaning indoors battling against the VOC and reduce levels of formaldehyde airborne, benzene and trichloroethylene. With these gas hidden in the wall panels, paints, carpets and electrical equipment for office these courageous office indoor plants are locked in battle.

As an ally to these efficient green Wolverton soldiers went to work with Plants for Clean Air Council in the United States and its product results in his book “Eco Friendly House Plants”, published in 1996. The book identifies and describes the ability of 50 common house plants to reduce indoor VOC character profiles of some of the toughest and most plants can office block. Some of the greatest personalities including sisters palm Areca Palm, Palm and Lady Bamboo Palm and some family members including Ficus Ficus Alii and Ficus benjamina, not to mention the infamous Janet Craig Dracaena.

Further studies in these green heroes have also demonstrated that not only they help to combat the VOC, but who also lend a hand when it comes to reducing noise office and the moisture in indoor climates. So if you have problems with your indoor climates why not call in the green team!

Are You Aware Of The Public Water Systems Regulations?

April 25th, 2008 -- Posted in Environment | No Comments »

Not knowing about the quality of your public water should be a crime that you have never commit. You know where is the source fluid is and how you receive your water? It’s important to know how your liquid is kept safe.

There may be a discrepancy between what your fluid society tells you and what we do not want you to know about their testing standards. And ‘your responsibility to do a little’ excavation and research to find out how your local liquid company is in possession of certain requirements set by the government.

The drinking water by the rules of bottled water industry, down to the fluid systems used by the public are governed by a branch of government. This office is about to EPA Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA has guidelines on how pure or impure the liquid can be a source before taking into account liquid contamination to be present.

City water treatment plants must operate under their jurisdiction and codes if they want to avoid the risk of fines and public health. Each year the EPA publishes statistics on clean drinking water and the best fluid to be found in the United States.

Source public liquid is one thing regulated. Public water systems must use the guidelines established by the Environmental Protection Agency’s National Primary Drinking Water Regulation.

This regulation is enforceable by law and can come to stiff penalties should the EPA discovered that local suppliers are not maintaining standards of fluid. Part of secondary regulation guidelines, although not punishable by law as that was clear with good taste and texture without water should be.

Public water systems do much for this country. Make sure that everyone can have life giving fluid they need and deserve. EPA enforcing regulations to ensure sources of liquid remain pure and clean. They also ensure that the special cleaning processes are performed according to their specifications.

The Environmental Protection Agency is our friend and companion in this battle. Think about how to clean the fluid is the next time vai in and turn on the tap for some cool refreshing liquid. At least you will know where to turn if you suspect a possible contamination of fluid.

I’ve been blogging for a few years and now the only thing I know how to monetize a blog is through Google AdSense, Bidvertiser, Chitika, Text Links Ads and other contextual ads. Until so far I’m looking for alternatives and good source of income. By web development is a pain and perhaps trying to venture into writing and blogging can help and save me from long hours of coding and programming and design.

I ask my blogger friends what is one of the main generators of income? One of them says payperpost.com. PayPerPost makes his dream, as in trip to Paris with his girlfriend. It’s a full blogger or a professional blogger. He boasts to me “What blogging bought for me? a 2 way a ticket for 2 in Paris.” He is earning around or more than $ 1500 USD / month in his free-lance writing on blogs. Ain’t that cool ?

I’ve been hearing and all the buzz about PPP, but for this recent years ignore them, but here I’m just signed. I wonder if I can also copy and to be a success as my friends professional blogger. They are too lazy to apply for a blue collar job and I like best but be a blogger so I can only stay at home in front of my PC blogging.

PayPerPost offers online word of mouth marketing, brand building, blog advertising and generating traffic through the biggest consumer of publicity generated community and market.

I have some blogs that sits there not used, are wasting time and are un-monetized. There are perhaps only for lazy and unable to monetized. I’m trying my luck and lets see what PPP can offer.

Do your part for the environment, health, and your cash

Owners of vehicles at national level have the same complaint, the high price of gasoline. And as if you’re going to work just to pay for gas to fill your tank. Everyone knows when the price of oil rises, the cost of everything rises. And the price keep your engine running good always put back in the hole financially.

People living in larger cities constantly breathe poisons released into the air. Research on this pollution problem is well defined. Pollutants from cars and trucks are responsible for lung disease, lung cancer and asthma. But not all. New research has shown that the poisons from our cars and trucks are responsible for increases in many types of cancer, heart disease and even Alzheimer’s disease.

An easy way to help stop pollution and save your lungs

A good idea would be to find a product that reduces toxicity in the air, while extending the life expectancy of your car engine. Ideally, the product should be effective when used in small quantities and be unique (may be used in gasoline, diesel, RFG, biodiesel and propane). This product is known as a catalyst for fuel, which has been used successfully for over 9 years by thousands of people, as well as city governments, large trucking lines, railroads, agriculture, boating and businesses.

Saving money, while improving your mileage

The product should save you money by reducing fuel consumption and maintenance of the engine, in addition to positive effects on the environment. If your product can supercharge your gas, you’ll spend less, but units for each additional tank of gas! Getting up to 35% increase in mileage gas would certainly be worth your time and money. Just make sure that your product is affordable, yet able to work in all gas vehicles.

To summarize, you should try a product that (a) will not poison our air, (b) keeps our lungs healthy and strong, and (c) stop wasting money on gas and engine repair. Let’s Planet Earth keep fresh for our children and grandchildren to enjoy.
